So the last thing I did that was a bit abnormal, I was surprised to find I have done three times this year alone. Before you frantically scroll down for a juicy scandal my abnormal activity was running in heels.
My fascination with heels growing up was nothing out of the ordinary. I wore them as a little girl, convinced I was a princess, and then later bought myself my own heels as adulthood prevailed, and I wanted to be seen as a lady. But I soon realised that if I was going to wear these torturous items I would have to learn to run in them. This was not for any other reason except my own safety. Funny how all the running that resulted after that had nothing to do with safety.
And it was tricky in the beginning, I will not lie to you. So when did I do it this year? The first time was at a work function in the Waterfront, where my boss challenged me to run in the stilettos I was wearing. Me, quick to take up a challenge and not eager to displease the person that pays me, took to running in my leopard skins.
The second time was a light jog down Edward street to a party I was almost late for...almost J
And last but not least was last week chasing a very small Japanese poodle down the road, before starting my 9-5, which I am increasingly grateful for. Or at least that I don’t have to wear heels when I do it.
It is quite an achievement to be able to run comfortably in high heels. Respect! One should still be caucious, as accidents can easily happen.
