If I were the boss... I wouldn't change a thing. Atleast not where I work.
In these two years that I have been employed at my company, I have experienced first hand what your boss should be like. I'm fortunate enough to work in an environment that is supportive and encourages learning. I'd take a chapter out of their book should I ever decide to start my own business.
So what are my bosses like? Well they haven't forgotten anybody's birthdays they've ever employed - that in itslef says so much. They give me enough responsibilty to allow me to grow as a practitioner and best of all they always have my best interest at heart.
This is motivational leadership if I have ever seen it. To get me away from this place, you'll have to drag me! I wish every person could find the same sort of happiness and job satisfaction.

What is it about weddings?
What is about wedddings that makes women go home and think? Is it the sacrificing vows or the love that seems under dying and true in the church and the reception? Or could it possibly be the possibilty that some of us might never get married or our first three marriages might end in divorce?
Weddings are scary! Beautiful but scary. There is just something about being the only single person in the church watching other couples say, "Look honey we should have that at ours." I look at them there is no way that will ever work (the marriage not the wedding). But I shouldnt, I havent even got the partner part under the wing- which is the most important thing as most women forget.
I think it is the idea of spending your life with someone else that makes most of us want to run- the fact that if it doesn't work out we will have to remenber it for the rest of our lives. It is the idea of sharing everything with one person and seeing this person every day of you life. How many people can say their parents are happily married?
But as scary as it is we all take the leap at some time, so here is your wedding thought (It has always been my inspiration when in times of doubt about marriage)

No daddy syndrome- it is up to you!
We all know the saying any man can be a daddy but it take alot more to be a father. These words till this day remain true.
There is even one ass-shaker of a song with lyrics that are sung by many young ladies: "I ain't had no daddy around when I was growing up. Thats why I'm wild and don't give a fluff." And Chris Rock has even pointed out that your main responsiblity as a father is to keep your daughter off that pole. These all highlight the effects of having no father present for young ladies.
Chris Rock goes further to say, "Your relationship with your daughter will determine how she will form relationships with all other men in future."
Although all this is true- I am not the kind of person that leaves life to make my choices. Like so many I havent had a father for years and you don't see me on a stripper pole over weekends. No daddy sydrome exists for those that want to blame the universe for their actions, for the rest of us there is simply the fact that you have to live without a daddy whose leg you can sit on and will teach you to drive.
So if you are reading this and you don't have a daddy- what is your choice?

Two people walk out of a building and into a story
It is a busy Tuedsay morning in Old Paarl road as taxis hoot for passengers and hawkers try to sell ID covers. Sam looks at her watch as she leaves Home Affairs and slips a quick glance at her new husband.
'This is not exactly how I would have wanted it,' She thinks. 'I would have liked something more romantic but it is what we wanted- to start a family far away from South Africa. As they walk to the car they smile at each other, this is their new beginning, this is their story.
They hit the road, barely able to see through the back window as all they owned fills up the space. Today is the day at last. For the last 3 years this has been their dream- to escape and start over. To run away to a place that was not fogged up with bad memories and broken dreams.
Sam looks at him as the sign for the N1 appears and gives a gentle smile. They take the road and never look back....

Everyone needs some angry music
Have you ever felt so angry that you thought you would murder the old lady in front of you at the convenience store? Have you ever walked around like a thunder cloud just waiting for someone to say something so you can snap at them?
If you answered yes that doesnt mean you are a crazy person. It simply means you are HUMAN. Everyone gets angry- even nuns!
So what is the quick fix? Well for me and most metal fans we have already found the solution- a good angry CD! My personal choice for the last few years andf even today is Linkin Park, but it is your anger so it it your choice.
The trick is to listen to a track really loud and just allow yourself to experience the anger (this is not to be done while driving). After that you think carefully about what you can do to improve the situation and prevent it in future. You then let go of the anger. As the track ends so should the angry thoughts. They don't have to stop completely- it is only natural that something that upsets you will be on your mind, but the anger has to stop. It will not get you anywhere!
So in the words of Linkin Park "There is something inside of me that pulls me beneath the surface. Consuming. Confusing. This lack of self control I fear is never ending"
If this sparks something in you listen to Crawling by Linkin Park- it should help

Designer PR
What is designer PR
Well in my opinion designer PR is a service provided by communication experts to their client in terms of establishing, implementing, perfecting and measuring the results of specifically directed communication efforts.
For me, as a young professional, I see it as creating a package that is perfect for your client that will address the needs of the client which you have identified. Focus is placed on areas that need attention, while keeping your goal in mind.
I must say I have experienced this first hand in my work place. The result of it is that your client feels like they are receiving a special tailoured service, not just a media release that is sent out in the dark to an outdated media list.
I always thought of designer PR as buying a car- there are certain things that you are looking for, extras which are optional and a sales person that would kiss you if you take a car. PR is similar- the client have an idea of what they would like and which extras they can afford and then we have the communication person that guides you and looks after you from beginning to end.
So what would you like? The run down beatle that has no service history or the the Renault Clio with a service history package in the glove compartment? Just as I thought...designer PR it is then.

The Linti name?
For those of you that have been following me on twitter (yes I am the Linti) you might have been puzzled by my name choice. The Linti- which orginates from the surname Lintnaar is a surname which is very popular in Ceres, but it is so much more- it is a title.
The surname by itself is just the first stepping stone. Once you have this surname you have certain obligations, which will enable you to become a Linti.
#1: look gooooood at all times (not good, goooood!)
#2: always keep it real- don't forget who you are and the people that helped you get there
#3: always say yes- say yes to life, sleep when you are dead
#4: make an effort everyday to be exceptional- there are too many of the same people doing the same thing
The list continues for pages on end, created and edited by selected Linti's. If you are a Lintnaar and not sure if you are a Linti please answer the following questions:
1. Have you ever talked your way out of a traffice fine?
2. Are you the only person in your office from your race or age group?
3. Do you ever find yourself bringing people together?
If you answered yes to any of these- well done. Now contact me for the other 100 questions and we can talk about you maybe, possibly having what it takes.
Have a great day Linti's!

I am...
I am Menay Lintnaar, I choose to be a despite of person, instead of a because of person. When you woke up today what was your choice?
Only recently it dawned on me that being a postivie person is a choice we make daily, sometimes even more than once in a day. We choose the way we look at things and we choose to look the other way when we don't like what we see. But just like looking at yourself in the mirror, looking at life is only half the job done, deciding how you look at is the more challenging and self moulding half.
I am responsible for my actions and lack thereof. Now everyday after I look at myself and I look at my life I take a step back and remind myself that although I don't live in isolation I am the one making things happen. I am responsible for my actions and reactions, and realising this I make my decisions.
I am the master of my decisions. Somestimes life does throw us some curve balls but how we decide to deal with it (or not deal with it) is our decision to make. Like a wise man once told me- you will be judged in life not by the good decisions you make but by the ones you wish you never made. How true that turned out to be.
I am Menay Lintnaar and I am a despite of person. I am not perfect but I am true to myself- after all the beauty of a diamond is in it's flaws...
